Generally speaking, I always recommend buying golf tees that are made of wood. I also suggest not spending a lot of money. Look for the best deal. Your local pro-shop may have some good deals on multi-packs. WalMart and Amazon will have pretty good deals every so often. Wood is better for the environment. I would avoid plastic if you can. Plastic Tees that get left on the ground won't decompose like wood will. In addition, the mower blades will chop them up. After a while, you won't even see them.

What else...

Buy the longer tees. Go for a 3 or 4 inch tee. My theory is: You can't make a tee longer, but you can stick a longer tee in the ground a little further. Be prepared as your needs may change from month to month. Buy in bulk for a discount. Go for the natural wood color if possible as it's even better on the environment.
